It's unique design allows anybody to duplicate the motion of on-water rowing and benefit from a safe, time-efficient workout for the whole body. It works your heart, lungs and circulatory system and at the same time shapes and tones the muscles of your legs, back, shoulders, buttocks, arms and stomach. You achieve all this through a wide range of motion that not only improves and maintains your flexibility but also protects your joints with an impact-free action. The machine is sturdy, stylish and widely used in the toughest of environments - it's built to last. It's the most popular item of fitness equipment found in UK gyms today and widely used by the army, police, and prison services. It's even used on North Sea oil rigs and the NASA astronaut training centre. Uniquely though it's also perfect for the home. It has spawned the sport of Indoor Rowing and enthusiasts can track their performance in the annual Concept Ranking or compete in regional, national or even world championship level races. The latest version of the Concept 2 Indoor Rower is the Model D, introduced in the summer of 2003. The Model D is a significant step forward. It boasts a redesigned flywheel which is quieter and has a broader range of resistance, as well as an ergonomically designed handle to better simulate the arm position of on-water rowing and provide a more comfortable rowing position throughout the stroke. The biggest difference is, however, the introduction of a new Performance Monitor, the PM3. The PM3 is far removed from being a simple metre counter. As well as adding a number of new graphical display modes, including a Pace Boat, a Force Curve and Power Plot, the PM3 has the ability to log both all the your metres, even those during interval rest time. It also allows you to programme and store your own favourite workouts for instant set-up.
